X Factor confirms new host: What about Dermot O’Leary?
The X Factor returned last weekend for its 14th run, introducing viewers to acts like Grace Davies.
With the live shows set to start next month, ITV has confirmed there will be a brand new host.
“What does that mean for Dermot O’Leary?” we hear you cry. Well, don’t worry, he’s not being replaced.
“I’m so excited to be joining The X Factor this year and I can’t wait to get stuck in”
Instead, Becca Dudley will be joining the show to present the new version of Xtra Factor.
The radio DJ will front Just Eat’s Xtra Bites, the show’s brand new digital series which returns instead of Xtra Factor which is normally on ITV2.
She will be the face of The X Factor’s social media platforms as well, so expect to see her all over Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter.
She told Digital Spy: “I’m so excited to be joining The X Factor this year and I can’t wait to get stuck in.
“I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing and meeting contestants from previous series, so I’m looking forward to getting to know and working with the class of 2017. I’m super gassed.”
Last year, Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmondson hosted Xtra Factor, though it was confirmed the spin-off would not return this year.
At the time of its cancellation, Thames TV’s managing director Richard Holloway said: “In the past year there has been an increase in digital engagement and online audiences around The X Factor.
“In light of this, ITV’s strategy to focus their efforts on digital means The Xtra Factor on linear television has come to its natural end.”
Last Saturday night, plenty of viewers wondered where the show was, with Rylan even getting in on the joke.
The X Factor continues tomorrow at 8pm on ITV.
