TRAGEDY: High Street in Rishton cordoned off after a woman died
Cops were chasing as blue Vauxhall Corsa when it hit the pedestrian, 47, at around 5.50pm in Rishton, near Blackburn, Lancs.
Emergency services frantically rushed to the scene but she could not be saved.
Lancs Police said the driver failed to stop at the scene, before the car was later recovered on Cliff Street.
A hunt for the motorist is now under way, and the incident has been referred to police watchdog IPCC.

Detective Inspector Warren Atkinson said: “We have now launched a criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
“We would ask anyone who witnessed the pursuit or who may be able to help us to identify the driver to contact us as we continue with our inquiries.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of the victim at this sad time.”
The victim’s family have been informed of the tragedy.
Images show the scene cordoned off before the road – High Street – was closed for most of the evening.

It comes after a police officer and 61-year-old woman died in a head-on crash on Christmas Day in Sheffield, South Yorks.
