VMAs 2017: Ed Sheeran wins Artist of the Year

ED Sheeran reigned supreme at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

WINNER: Ed was named Artist of the Year

Contrary to popular belief, the annual ceremony isn’t all about the nipple flashing and fashion faux pas.

Ed brought us back to the music with a enchanting performance of his hit track Shape of You, before being announced as Artist of the Year.

He was later unexpectedly joined by Lil Uzi for his song XO Tour Llif3.

CLEAN SWEEP: Kendrick Lamar won six awards on the night

The crooner was up against some very stiff competition with Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Lorde and Ariana Grande also up for the award in the Artist of the Year category.

As he walked up on stage, the 26-year-old thanked his fans for the award which was presented to him by Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown.

Despite missing out on Artist of the Year, Kendrick Lamar was another big winner for the evening.

POWERFUL: Pink won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award

The rapper took home six awards for his hit track HUMBLE, including Video of the Year.

While singer Pink received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

The What About Us songstress gave a inspiring speech about her six-year-old daughter Willow Hart, who was in the audience, as she collected the award.

Before Pink Rihanna bagged the coveted gong in 2016, while Kanye West received the award in 2015.

MTV Video Music Awards airs in the UK tonight at 9pm, only on MTV.
