A five-minute long trailer was recently released, giving fans a glimpse of the drama they can expect to see.
It showed a very interesting clip of Rick Grimes old and grey, appearing to be on his death bed.
Fans linked this with a time jump that happens in the original comic series, though there’s been no official explanation.
Now, AMC has released the official synopsis for the upcoming season, and while there’s no mention of old man Rick, it still sounds incredible.
“Last season, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors were confronted with their deadliest challenge yet,” it starts, saying how the Alexandrians let their guard down.
It goes on to say how Rick told the group to play along with Negan’s demands, before rallying together other groups affected by the sinister Saviors.
“Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future”
Fans will remember how Rick and the Alexandrians teamed up with the Hilltop and the Kingdom.
Season eight will bring viewers the All Out War storyline from the comics, which is sure to be nail-biting.
The synopsis continues: “The Saviours are larger, better-equipped, and ruthless – but Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future.”
It seems tactics have changed, as it adds: “Up until now, survival has been the focus of Rick and our group, but it’s not enough. They have to fight to take back their freedom so that they can live.”
Losses and casualties are teased, but it sounds fairly optimistic with Rick leading Alexandria, Maggie the Hilltop and King Ezekiel the Kingdom.
The synopsis ends: “Negan and the Saviors’ grip on this world may finally be coming to an end.”
This Walking Dead season eight starts October 23 on Fox UK.
