The former glamour model played Carly in the popular ITV soap for two years, before leaving in June this year.
But with the door left wide open for the character, Gemma, 32, has hinted she will be returning to the Dales – and a lot sooner than first thought.
“Carly will go back at some point,” she teased. “But I might want a holiday at the end of Strictly first.
“I love Emmerdale. A few of them are going to come down. Danny Miller [Aaron Dingle] has text me, as he’s after tickets.
“We only get two tickets per show, so I don’t know who I’m going to bring to each one. We’ll have to wait and see.”
But Gemma’s love for her current role at Key 103 radio may also be keeping her from returning to the Woolpack for a while.
“After Emmerdale, I did my radio station and I’m going to be doing that for a while, because I love it,” she added.
“I’m still going to be doing the radio show when I’m on Strictly, and be training in Manchester.
“My mum and my family have always said to me, ‘You’ve done so well, it’d be good if you could do Strictly,’ and now I’m finally here. Everything’s happened at the right time.”
There is one thing Gemma is dreading about the Saturday night live shows.
“My worst fear is falling up the stairs after dancing. That for me is more nerve-wracking. You’re going to be wobbly and out of breath and full of adrenaline and that’s my worst fear, falling and everyone laughing at you.”
Strictly Come Dancing launches on Saturday, 9th September on BBC1 at 7pm.
