Speaking at the Strictly press day, the star said of his busy schedule: “No I won’t be taking a break per se. It’ll be quieter.
“But EastEnders stars have juggled both before and I’m hoping to follow in their footsteps.
Previous EastEnders stars who have also appeared in Strictly include Jessie Wallace, Jake Wood and Kara Tointon.
And to pile the pressure on the hunk, stars of the BBC1 soap have gone on to do very well in the show, with Jake (Max Branning) reaching the semi-finals with his surprising snake hips, and Kara (Dawn Swan) seizing the glitterball trophy in 2008.
“They’ve all done really well and set the bar high,” Davood admits, “They’re brilliant and they’re all so excited for me. They’ve got a great wealth of information and knowledge to pass on to me.”
As the hunk of the 15th series of Strictly, Davood is looking forward to squeezing his six-pack abs into the tight, sequinned costumes.
“we’ve tried the skimpy, Latin style clothes,” he joked. “Frankly they’re very comfortable and they get my bum to work.”
Fellow contestant Jonnie Peacock added: “I was walking behind him on the red carpet and I stared at this lovely man’s derriere in a tight pair of Latin trousers. There aren’t many better sights.”
And Davood isn’t afraid to remove some items of clothing if he feels it might help him score those higher marks.
“It depends, it depends,” he laughed. “We’ll see. If the dance calls for it. If it’s the right kind of dance then maybe later on in the competition.”
With Davood thought to be paired up with newcomer pro Nadiya Bychkova, a Ukranian dancer and former Playmate model, will we see him shed his clothes to get to the top?
Strictly Come Dancing launches on Saturday, 9th September on BBC1 at 7pm.
