Speaking at the Strictly press day, the 57-year-old TV presenter said: “Eamonn jokes about the Strictly curse all the time.
“’One man’s curse is another man’s blessing,’” she added jokingly. “That’s the line he’s rolling out.”
The rumoured Strictly curse has plagued couples in previously happy relationships when they’ve entered the show, with several celebs falling for their professional dancers.
Natasha Kaplinsky, Ben Cohen and Jimi Mistry all ended up pairing off with their dance partners. More recently, it was rumoured Louise Redknapp had split with husband Jamie after her time on the BBC1 dancing competition last year. However, neither party officially confirmed the break up.
But the ‘curse’ hasn’t stopped Ruth, who has been with Eamonn for over 20 years with the pair marrying in 2010 – with the TV presenter admitting Eamonn may even be putting his dancing shoes on soon.
“He’s been approached before for Strictly,” Ruth revealed. “He’s not saying he’d never do it.
“But he’s had two new hips last year, so it’s a little early days yet. But he enjoys the rumours and we enjoyed adding fuel to the fire.
“I was very nervous when they announced it on This Morning because we’d been teasing it all day. I didn’t want people to think it was me. So right up until the very last second I was like do not mess this up.
“You feel a huge responsibility to keep it secret and you feel a responsibility to get it right.”
And there may be another member of the This Morning family looking to seize that glitter ball trophy.
“Rylan should do Strictly next,” she said. “He’s a fabulous dancer, he’s fantastic.”
Strictly Come Dancing launches on Saturday, 9th September on BBC1 at 7pm.
