Queens of the Stone Age: ‘Fans should embrace DANGER like us on stage!’
The band’s new Mark Ronson produced album Villains is set for No1 today – and it’s built for letting off steam on their UK tour.
Guitarist Troy De Van Leeuwen told me: “We embrace chaos and danger, so should the fans.
“Every night we get on stage we give everything and things could break, the wheels could fall off.
“That’s the way life is, we are always looking to f*** things up.”
Singer Josh Homme agreed, saying: “At our concerts there are no rules, all you have to do is be yourself.”
Villains features a picture of Josh being accosted by the devil and Troy explained: “People want someone to blame their terrible decisions on, and that’s usually the devil.
Josh added: “I prefer to take responsibility for my nonsense.”
Queens members always have loads of other projects on the go, including an album with Iggy Pop last year and Troy, Dean and Michael Jay Shuman (aka Mikey Shoes) do a spot of moonlighting as DJs too.
Bassist Mikey said: “The mothership is Queens, and that guides us but DJing is a way to, like, connect with fans on a different level in smaller clubs.”
Troy added: “We have that in common with Mark Ronson too. In order to be a good DJ you have to read the room.
“We play James Brown, INXS, The Cramps, we even played Britney Spears’ Toxic.”
Mikey laughed: “You were drunk to be fair, but the place went off though.”
Josh is also the drummer with Eagles Of Death Metal, who are plotting new music too.
He confirmed “Eagles is great. We are going to do a soundtrack to a film.
“I’ve been bouncing ideas with Jesse (Hughes).”
QOTSA tour the UK in November.
Mel B’s daughters think their mum is anything but cool. Her kids are less than impressed with the Spice Girls’ hits.
Mel confessed: “One of them calls it old people’s music.
“I’m like: ‘What are you talking about? It’s ’90s pop. It’s the best music ever.’”
So they don’t Wannabe just like their mum then?
Pop princess Ella Eyre is embracing cheesy pop on her forthcoming album.
Ella’s giving the charts a fresh injection of pop and has dug out old faves S Club 7 for writing inspiration.
She told me: “It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to do.
But I just feel like saying: ‘F*** it’ – I used to listen to S Club 7 and Blue growing up, so I’m doing straight-down-the-line commercial pop.”
I’ve had a sneak peak at the music video for Ego, and it’s given me all kind of 1990s flashbacks (in the best way).
Watch Ella perform her new pop bangers this weekend at Fusion Festival.
Rihanna and Drake should change their relationship status to ‘It’s complicated’ on Facebook.
Fans believe they are giving it another go as they were both spotted partying in London.
But it’s highly unlikely as Ri is currently dating Saudi Toyota dealership heir Hassan Jameel!
Kendall Jenner won’t be dressed as an Angel this Christmas.
The model turned down the opportunity to walk the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to become the new face of La Perla.
According to sources, Kendall has signed a multi-million pound exclusive deal with the lingerie brand. It comes after she was crowned the Fashion Icon of the Decade during New York Fashion Week.
Daniel Craig will do battle with an alligator in the new James Bond film – a Dartz Prombron Black Alligator bulletproof car.
The armoured SUV comes with 1,001 black diamonds melted into the bodywork.
But it also boasts a $30,000 alligator skin steering wheel and 18 Mississippi alligator hides were used making the interior cabin trim!
Kanye West fans are planning on ruining Taylor Swift’s album launch with a mass Hey Mama protest.
The rapper’s followers are convinced Tay pre-planned dropping her LP on the anniversary of his mum’s death – although her team have denied the correlation – and are out for revenge.
Their idea is to repeatedly stream the Late Registration track to prevent Reputation from going to No1.
