Tonight it was revealed that new resident Ted Murray shot Jonny Carter after thinking an intruder was breaking into their house.
In a tense showdown, his wife Joyce took the rap for the freak accident and turned herself in to the armed police that had flocked outside their house.
Before she was led out of Walford in handcuffs, she told her deranged hubby: “Jonny needs help, and people need to come in. But people can’t come in unless they know it’s safe. So you must give me the gun.
“We can say it’s self-defence.”
As the cops swarmed in, a confused Ted sat on a chair as his victim bled out on the kitchen floor.
Paramedics and mum Linda Carter – who just unloaded to Jack Branning that she secretly battled cancer – raced into the crime scene.
Linda begged: “He’s going to be alright isn’t he? You’re not leaving me, do you hear me?”
“Jonny needs help, and people need to come in”
Jonny was soon carried off into the back of an ambulance with his mum by his side – but naturally more disasters were just around the corner.
Linda comforted Jonny on the way to A&E, their ambulance was pushed off the road by an off-course lorry.
The final scene showed that the vehicle had been flipped onto its side and had skidded along the carriageway.
Will Jonny and Linda survive to see another day?
Meanwhile, fellow resident Jane Beale’s life hangs in the balance too.
She was left for dead in the Beale’s restaurant fire when Max Branning refused to save her.
