Insiders believe the British actor, 49, has secured himself a £47million pay cheque by agreeing to appear in the next two blockbusters.
Hollywood sources say film bosses are delighted to lure the superstar back following his popularity in Skyfall and Spectre.
The actor’s future in the role was in doubt after Craig ruled himself out of starring in another Bond film following the release of Spectre, saying: “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists.”
“It’s a drag. The best acting is when you’re not concerned about the surface”
A disgruntled Craig added that playing the movie favourite was “a struggle”.
He said: “It’s a drag. The best acting is when you’re not concerned about the surface.
“And Bond is the opposite of that. It’s a struggle.
“If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”
Despite his role in the two upcoming films yet to be officially announced, one American source said it was a “done deal” last night.
The source added: “He is Bond, it’s certainly great to get him on board again.”
Producer Barbara Broccoli is also reportedly determined to bring back Adele to record a theme tune for the new film, the 25th in the series, after she sang the lead track on Skyfall.
Last night a spokesman for the star declined to comment.
